This pair of shops was once more inspired by the parade of shops from Mavis's childhood. The name of the Hardware Shop came from Wellington Road, Bexley where Mavis lived as a child. Burnt Ash Antique Shop was named after Burnt Ash Hill - the area in which her fathers shop was situated. Mavis also ran an antique business alongside her teaching for many years so this was a subject close to her heart.
